If I am past due on my HOA fees and I rent the property-are the tenants responsible for my past due HOA fees?

I own a townhouse that is in foreclosure, I don't live there but I have people staying there for a couple of weeks and an ociation member told them that they were responsible for paying my past due HOA fees, if they didn't pay they would get evicted. Is that true?
