Do the atoms and molecules which make up neurons replace themselves over time?

Neurons in the cerebral cortex are said to be permanent for the life of the individual. But those neurons are made up of molecules and in turn atoms. Now, do these molecules and atoms get replaced or repaired, to maintain the original neuron??
